Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $20 for three Humble Sea beers (part of $80 monthly deal for three 4-packs)
From: Humble Sea Brewing Company in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received April 23, 2022
Consumed: May 7, 2022
Misc.: Canned on April 14, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)
Untappd description for this one was a “DDH Foggy DIPA with Mosaic, Simcoe, Galaxy & Nectaron. Maris Otter and 2-row make up the base malt for a little bit more emphasis on a malt backbone, Mosaic incognito in the whirlpool to create a fruity and somewhat dank hop saturated wort, and heavily dry hopped twice with some very punchy and aromatic hops both old school and new.” Really was looking forward to that one.
Poured a medium gold foggy (has to be called foggy with Humble Sea) color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see some bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Nectaron jumped out on the nose. Also dank Mosaic, spicy Simcoe, pine, oily resin, peach, nectarine, Hawaiian Fruit Punch, passion fruit, Galaxy, floral, mixed berry, rose blossom, garlic, onion, pineapple and grapefruit rind. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose but still great. Got Nectaron and Mosaic up front, followed by Galaxy and lingering spicy Simcoe. Specifically peach, nectarine, dank pine, black pepper, garlic, onion, Hawaiian Fruit Punch, passion fruit, mixed berry, pineapple, grapefruit rind, rose blossom, floral, papaya and citrusy orange. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was nice. Just an excellent hazy DIPA. (Overall - 4.25)
