Much like many of our core hop-forward beers, Rove begins with a combination of American and British barley, oats, and wheat. Our house mixed culture and a period of aging in oak allows the beer to drift into new territory but it's an assertive dry-hopping that truly transforms it into something unique. With a batch-specific blend of hops we realize new and unexpected flavors from seemingly familiar varieties.

Can from the brewery in Salem, CT. Pours a mildly cloudy yellow gold with a finger of rocky white head that dissipates, no lacing; smell is brioche, funky and bitter melon and grape skin, pear and apple flesh, white grape flesh, earthy hops; taste is custardy brioche, floral pineapple, funky bitter lemon, oak, hint of herbal hops; feel is light, bright carbonation, mild acidity, dry finish. A funky, fruity, bitter, dry spritzer.

12oz can courtesy of Roguer. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was canned on August 18, 2022.
Poured into a teku, this was an immediately foamy, clear golden amber color. Said head dropped fairly quickly, leaving lots of lace.
Sharp, lemongrass-like aroma, with a bit of earthy funkiness.
Sharply bitter citrus flavor up front. Very lemony, with a bit of white wine grapeyness. Crackery malt flavor. Quite dry, especially in the finish, where there's also a slightly barnyardy funk note present.
Fairly crisp mouth feel for the style.
Really enjoyed this. More complex than the nose indicated, although it was itself excellent. Bet this would absolutely slay on a hot day.

Excellent head production. As with any wild-ish saison, the head is a bit frothy and relatively short lived. Body has moderate haze (translucent).
Light funk and almost a grape-like mustiness on the nose - the latter likely from the dry-hop. There's a Brett-like earthiness. This is quite reminiscent of Hill Farmstead's saisons. Dancing notes of honey, cracker, and wildflower, and just a bit of earthy cheesiness.
Surprisingly sharp and tart on the palate, ostensibly from the oak and mixed culture yeast. Tasting notes include lemon, lime zest, grapefruit rind, hay, cracker, tannins, oak, vanilla. Lingering dry finish.
Semi-dry and absolutely crushable - but you shouldn't gulp this down too quickly, as it's really a delight to savor.
A world-class dry-hopped mixed culture dry saison.

Pours hazy, caution light yellow in color with one inch head. Taste is barnyard funk, lemon, hay, and white wine. Light bodied, high carbonation, funky. Excellent saison. Very wine like. Nice beer to sit with.
