Brewed with our friends from Lervig in September of 2019, Poor Decisions is a big, big beer. This beer has a crazy complex malt profile that is complimented by the tons of glazed chocolate Timbits that were added to the boil. Tons of chocolate, caramel and maple syrup come through in the nose & flavor with a velvety, barrel-centric sweet finish. Clocking in at 15.32% this beer was aged for a year in Buffalo Trace barrels.

I received this beer from a BIF in 2019/2020; I am trying to remember who sent it. I could review my records and find out, but the person who sent it will know I appreciate the bottle. I served Poor Decisions in a Tulip glass at 50 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy, dark brown half-fingered head with poor retention. The beer is dark brown, nearly black, and opaque, measuring around 38 on the color chart. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The beer's appearance is slightly below average for its style. I have seen firmer heads on higher-ABV stouts.
Nosing the glass, I smell malty, raisin, bourbon, oak, and char. I also smell bread (is it doughnuts? It's hard to tell), caramel, chocolate, and molasses. With a few more swirls and a deep whiff, I notice vanilla, some oxidation, and earthiness. I am not picking up any maple aromas, but I do get a touch of off-flavors, but I'm not sure what exactly it is.
Wow, this is a sugar bomb; I was not anticipating that. The sugar is a conglomeration of caramel, molasses, toffee, and a bit of maple( at least it was not lost). The malt is bready, but it's still hard to say it's a doughnut. The barrel aging does help temper the beer, but only slightly. Sadly, this suffers from too much of a good thing. Other flavors are raisins, coffee, chocolate, earthiness, oak, bourbon, oxidation, and char.
The mouthfeel is chewy and heavy, with a somewhat warm finish. The body is heavy with low carbonation.
Sadly, this beer has too many ingredients, making it a massive sugar bomb. A couple of years back, I tried a few doughnut beers by another brewery, and they kept the sugary donut flavor in check and made it more palatable. I will drink this beer, but it will take some time. Overall, it is a mess of beer concerning harmony and balance.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like sweet milk chocolate, maple, caramel, dark fruit, and light roast.
This is definitely very, very sweet - much more sweet than Thin Man stouts usually tend to be. That's obviously because glazed chocolate donut holes were added to this beer. Despite the sweetness, there definitely is a lot to like here, with a wonderfully rich milk chocolate flavor, caramel, maple syrup, and sticky dark fruit, just a hint of roast. There's definitely a big slug of booze here, though.
This is pretty thick, a little bit syrupy, with a sweet and boozy finish.
This is a little bit sloppy, but overall very cool to try.

Brown speckled light black body with a finger and half of brown foam. Nose is boozy the whole sniff, no oak but maple candy and milk chocolate there in the booze. This was hard to even get a few ounces down, sickly sweet chocolate meets hot booze before more sweetness from maple and caramel. It gets stronger with each sip, just overwhelming, a diabetic nightmare. Feel is sugar, hot, thin, and sticky. Drain poured after about a half a glass
