Pours an effervescent mahogany with a thing caramel colored head. Viscous, no head retention or lacing
S: Tons of peanuts, some boozeyness, great nose
T: Peanuts, dryness, a touch of boozey Bourbon, dark chocolate, plus a little caramel up front. Cocoa Powder sweetness/dryness, peanut butter & some Bourbon boozeyness once warm. Finishes sweet & powdery dry with a Boozey Reese's Peanut flavor that almost made me happy
MF: Medium body, low carbonation warming
Solid, but had higher hopes for this. Certainly a sipper

No bottling date (released on 4/17/21, so presumably bottled within a few days of that date); consumed on 5/24/21
Pours a glossy, slick, oily black body forming little beyond vague patches of foam at the surface accompanied by a slightly more substantial, moderate, frothy collar, which in turn recedes in size though never quite fades completely; no lacing whatsoever holds to the walls of the glass.
Aroma projects toasted peanut against a more standout floral vanilla upfront, with underlying dark fruits and hints of leather accenting into milk chocolate over the middle against a building bourbon presence; peanut dust presents into back end of the bouquet, developing into cocoa, barrel char, and further, equally subtle dark fruits on the close.
Taste features initial impressions of dark fruits, leather, and toasted caramel, with a brief interlude of silky peanut butter before plenty of roasty char and burnt marshmallow harmonize over the mid-palate; bittersweet chocolate melds subtly with fading chunky peanut butter for a quiet decadence on the back end, where floral vanilla and resounding oak accentuate a steadily expansive, bourbon-tinged decadence through the finish.
Mouthfeel offers a medium-full body with a prickly spritz of moderate-low carbonation fading to plush, oily textures evolcing to an inky kiss tinging the mid-palate; the back end dries calmly, delicately clinging to the palate as a burly, boozy warmth washes over the finish with an ineffectual, soothing grit.
An expert interplay of barrel char elevates the robustness of the malt profile here, even as the peanut butter fades from center stage, ceding attention to a focused exposition of bittersweet bourbon influences coursing between the adjuncted edges of traditional, barrel-aged stout depth.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like creamy, earthy peanut butter, caramel, bourbon, oak, spice, licorice, roasted malt, and dark chocolate.
This is really truly excellent stuff. There's a lot of barrel, and a good amount of peanut butter. The peanut butter does not really dominate though - you can still it's an excellent roasty/dark fruity base, and the barrel helps adds a nice spicy, oak, leathery dimension, keeping the beer overall balanced.
This is medium bodied, with not much booziness to it, and a nice creamy richness.
This is one of the best barrel aged stouts that I've had made in NY, full stop. It was excellent.
