Thanks, Bill & Kristine!
Got this from Bill and Kristine on their recent trip to San Diego. Moonraker pretty much kills everything they try, so I was looking forward to this hazy pale ale. Couldn’t find a description anywhere, but did see Galaxy and 50 IBUs. Have a newfound respect for Galaxy, so I was looking forward to it.
Poured a medium yellow hazy color with 3-to-4 fingers of white frothy-to-rocky head. Some bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. World-class uneven spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled big Galaxy, citrus notes, passion fruit, pineapple, spoiled orange peel, melon, grass and herbal. Big time Galaxy from the can, along with pineapple and earthy malt. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted similar to the nose, maybe not quite as good. Got Galaxy, citrus notes, melon, pineapple, passion fruit, spoiled orange peel, grass, herbal and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Outstanding beer overall, especially for Galaxy. (Overall - 4.00)

Can poured into a Russian River Brewing Co pub glass
A: Pours super hazy golden peachy amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Lots of tropical and stone fruit, a little citrus, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Burst of juicy tropical and stone fruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, apricot, peach and guava, with a hint of papaya and melon, a little citrus, tangerine and lemon lime, slightly grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: Hands down the best Galaxy hopped beer I've had in a while, if not ever. Beautifully balanced and showing off all the best flavors of this hop, plus some I didn't know you could pull out of there. I could crush this all day.

The last of the beer reviews from a flight list at Moonraker. Like all of the crush series beers, this is hazy and yellow, but the yellow comes in brighter than average. This one had a slightly bigger head than the other ones, 1/2" and dense with better than average retention. The nose is what I've come to expect from the galaxy hop: pineapple. It goes pineapple and pine for the most part. Its good.
The taste is the same as well, you get that blast of pineapple flavor that is wet as opposed to a dry west coast finish. The flaked oats/wheat body is very tame and out of the way. Bitterness is low. Flavor and juiciness is high (no juice added). The price is also high, and that (and the limited availability) are the only real negative spots here. $4 a can is tough when you can get other world class hoppy (albeit different) beers for around $1/12oz at the supermarket.
So I dunno, I like to grab a 4 pack if I'm around the area conveniently, but other than that, it becomes cost prohibitive to buy more than that ever, or to buy a 4 pack on the reg.
