Thanks, Bill & Kristine!
Got this from Bill and Kristine on their recent trip to San Diego. Not really a big fan of sour IPAs save everything Pure Project does, but was willing to give this a try because Moonraker. Can called for a, “Sour IPA crafted with Terpenes, Kiwi, Cherry, Vanilla, Milk Sugar, Galaxy & El Dorado.” No idea of what Terpenes is, but the rest sounded interesting.
Poured an amber cloudy color with one finger of of-white frothy head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Decent spotty lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled cherry vanilla, grapefruit, pineapple, pear, kiwi, watermelon, El Dorado, candied orange and stone fruit. Got pretty much hops from the can with Galaxy and El Dorado both coming through, along with stone fruit and cherry vanilla. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted close to the nose. In order got vanilla, sour cherry, cherry vanilla ice cream, pear, kiwi, grapefruit, pineapple, watermelon, candied orange, stone fruit and El Dorado. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy, sour finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Overall this was a pretty solid sour IPA for a style that I don’t always enjoy. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
