Robed in bright vermillion and with an aroma reminiscent of fresh cherry pie, our Kriek is a Pacific Northwest ode to Belgian Lambic brewers who craft these tart, fruity and complex beers. Ours was matured on a mountain of whole Oregon cherries and finished with a hint of vanilla for balance.

Cellared for a year. Very dark ruby body with a white ring and bubble islands after the initial pinkish head died down quickly. Aromas of tart cherry, oak, vanilla, lacto, and mild funk. Taste is much the same, but not as sweet as the nose, funk builds over time. Not a ton of nuance, but tasty. Feel is tart, bright, smooth, slightly thicket but medium bodied. Nice new world kriek

this one is magic, my first new one from this incredible brewery in way too long, glad to see some bottles show up in boise, i love what they do! the vanilla has me nervous here, was worried it would be cloying and take away from the ferment and the fruit, but it enhances both and its super understated, like i might not even know it was in here if the label didnt say so. the color of this is amazing, more pinkish toned than red, rose colored and bright, high shine, lasting fizzy white head like it was dying to get out of the bottle and into the glass, sparkling and excited. the nose is tart pie cherries with way less funk than acid, not that its too sour, just that its really less interesting on the ferment than expected, the fruit is awesome and the vanilla is natural and floral and kind of regal and sexy, but its not as brett forward or lambic-like as i hoped it would be, still my mouth waters for it. gorgeous cherry complexion to this, dry but intense, cut flowers and cranberry tang in the mix, more funkiness too now than i could smell, and the luscious vanilla is just there in the background. its sour but my palate gets used to it quick, some nice oak character here too, and a little bit of a white wine notes. lots going on but also really delicate, light bodied, almost nothing from the grain at all, and exciting without being as wild as some of their others. the vanilla makes this very intriguing but it isnt a distraction. dialed in as far as quality goes. expensive but you get what you pay for with these guys every time. perfect one to share with my wife for valentines day!

500ml bottle into a tulip. Bottled 1/21, so about 4 months old.
Deep burgundy body. The small pinkish head fizzes out immediately, so no lacing.
Aroma of sour tart cherry.
On tasting, exactly follows the nose. It's VERY tart dry & sour. The cherry taste is present, but no oak or vanilla can be detected.
Mouth between medium and full, finish tart & dry.
Overall, a mouth puckering drink that i can only slowly sip on. It's a good taste, but so tart and dry.

Little snifter at The Bine.
Pours light red with a small head. Smell is tart, cherries, hint of funk. Maybe slightly grassy.
Taste is very tart, less clearly cherry. Fruity.
Mouthfeel is dry and light. Overall, good.

This Kriek is a gorgeous red, suggesting either cherries or raspberries. The smell and taste are all cherries. I have a Montmorency pie cherry tree in my yard, and that's exactly what I taste in this beer. You want a cherry pie beer, this is your beer. However, it's not sweet in the least, which is a good thing. There's good carbonation.
I'd like it a bit more if there was a bit of funk, and a bit more oak. I have to almost imagine the wood influence, but I guess it's there. Very good stuff, nonetheless.
