Picked up this beer when it was released last year, since I was quite thrilled that KCBC had made it to their first anniversary. Love the name and the artwork but the liquid itself wasn't anything memorable compared to other anniversary brews that I've had. For those like me that enjoy their brews, this was on par with their other offerings but didn't break any new ground in the end...
Not a bad pour to this, as the cloudy and chalky golden hue was topped off by plenty of head that held it's own. There was enough lacing along the back of my pint glass as I sipped it down with the bubbles being visible along the bottom two-thirds of it's interior. This was dry-hopped although the burn wasn't really present - either in the nose or in the taste. Grass, white cheese, overripe stone fruit, and some funky hops did emerge as this warmed up as this felt like a barnyard beer that was hopped up and toned down on it's rustic side. Quite dry, there could have been more carbonation present to keep this lively as the amount of sediment left at the bottom of my glass was quite small, even after all of this time.
Not a lot of booze here but a mild warming effect took hold as I finished this off. While not bad, I was hoping for something more extreme and varied than this as it didn't stand out to me at all. Maybe if I had made the party, this would have stood out more, but I'm happy that these guys are still going strong and hope that future anniversaries carry on this moniker while showing what KCBC's also fully capable of!
