Black Pilsner // Collab with Saint Vitus for The Six Most Metal Breweries
A supremely crushable wintery dark lager -- here to steal your soul and destroy your dreams. Toasted layers of pilsner & black malt, balanced hop bitterness and a spritz finish. Dark-yet-light. Subtle and smooth. Drink it all night.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells roasty and slightly ashy, with some chocolate.
KCBC tends to make lagers pretty well, and this is no exception. It’s nicely chocolatey, with a heavy roasted malt character, leaving a slightly ashy (in a good way) finish.
This is light bodied, crisp, clean, and pretty creamy.
This is a pretty standard but very well done Schwarzbier.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 12/09/20, so about 2 months old.
Black body which can just about be seen through when held up to the light. Small tan head quickly shrinks to a thin ring, no lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt.
On tasting, roasted malt, but not overly done. A little smoky, which is nice. Very drinkable. A very faint apple core.
Mouth just about medium, finish roasted malt and just a bit watery.
Overall, this review seems a bit all over the place, but it's a good beer, hard to find style from an american brewer

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that quickly died down, leaving some patches of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose.
T: Moderate to strong flavors of dark malts are present in the taste along with hints of coffee and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is packed with lots of flavors of dark malts but is extremely drinkable.
Serving type: can

Served on tap in a 4 oz (120 ml) taster at KCBC brewery in Brooklyn, NY.
A: Pours a relatively clear, but very dark brown (not quite black) color with a one finger, tan head, little retention, and spidery lacing.
S: Aromas of black coffee, dark chocolate, and toast.
T: Semidry. Flavors largely follow the nose. Robust bittering provides for aftertaste more typical of a Schwartzbier
M: Light bodied with moderate effervescence.
O: Light, refreshing, and sessionable. Enjoyed it.

Poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a two finger white foamy head that slid off fairly quick. Some speckled lace smattered the glass here and there.
The aroma had a blend of sweet to roasty coffee burnt edge pulling in some ash and char. Deep dark chocolate seemed to play nicely with dark bready toast. But I wanted the German earthy and semi-spicy yeastiness with a fuller touch of dark sweetness.
The flavor seems to mesh the dark chocolate sweet and bitterness to the coffee ash/char dry taste. Definitely has the Schwarzbier aftertaste of the dark chocolate and dark bready toast, lighter yeasty tones.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair in between sort of ability to be a sipper yet somewhat sessionable. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt right where it's supposed to be. Huge roasty and dark toast-like finish with some ash/char.
Overall, this isn't a German Pilsener. Sorry at King's County. However, I can it's well brewed and somewhat of a cross of a Euro Dark Lager and a Schwarzbier.
