Brewed with Brooklyn-based metal band Tombs, featuring Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans from lead singer Mike Hill’s SAVAGE GOLD coffee company. Subtle notes of red fruit and floral spice from the coffee, melding with the clean, crisp lager base. Lightly hopped with Hallertau Blanc. Unfiltered for maximum flavor. Crushable.

-Coffee Lager.
A: Bright hazy gold bar coloring has a strong showing of macro-bubbles. A bready white capping, 1/2 inch sits comfortably atop. Tons of clingy bubbles on the chalice walls and bottom.
S: Tinny coffee on the nose, a tad weak in show, along with some fresh bready malts and yeastiness. Again all of light and moderate intentions.
T: Sweet coffee and caramel creamer sweetness opens up the flavor. The coffee aspect is again, light, but more noticeable then with the nose. Roasty dry coffee grounds, perhaps some bakers chocolate, lightly dry, small bitterness, with a big fresh, bready backbone.
M: Tons of excited bubbles in the mouthful. Very crisp and sharp on the tongue, bready malts, very lager like and a prime example.
O: A menacing can design with an outstanding lager like appearance, is off set by a light and disappointing nose. The coffee aspect was light, but did add subtle back notes. The carbonation was explosive and the crown jewel of the experience, with a good yeasty and bready malt backbone true to style. A drink that does grow with more appreciation and consumption deeper into the experience. A sweet caramel-french vanilla touch ads to a good drink-ability.

A recent visit to Hunger 'n' Thirst was the basis of my discovery of this one for The CANQuest (tm). I had picked up CANother CAN of theirs from the Friendly Greek Bottle Shop (FGBS), but I found this one equally intriguing.
From the CAN: "Coffee Lager"; "KCBC x Tombs". "Savage Gold Coffee".
I would have preferred to drink a coffee-infused beer with breakfast, but since I have to teach school in the morning, that seemed like a very bad idea from the jump. Instead, I struck while the iron was warm & initiate a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I know that this is billed as a Kellerbier/Zwickelbier, but I am CANstantly striving for clarity & I was attempting to leave any flocculate for a final Glug. My plan beCAN with the rapid formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention, taking its sweet time in falling while leaving behind a load of lacing. Color was a gorgeous Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, causing The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus to come bounding into my kitchen, slavering at the beauteous sight before diving in for a taste! Nose was (thankfully) less coffee & more grassy Noble hops. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but no great shakes. The taste remained Euro-Lager-like with a toasty biscuitiness infused with both Noble hops & a restrained coffee presence. I CAN make my own coffee, thank you, so I do not need it to be the overwhelming presence in a beer. This was like Baby Bear's version of a coffee beer - just right! Finish was semi-dry, very pleasant, very quaffable. YMMV.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white collar around the edge of the glass and a small patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light aromas of coffee beans are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has light flavors of coffee beans and notes of yeast. There is also a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a bit clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The subtle aromas and flavors of coffee lend some complexity to this lager.
Serving type: can

Coffee Lager? Interesting concept. This should be interesting.
Pours a mostly clear golden yellow straw color, actually, there is a slight haze, and visible carbonation. Large foam head retains pretty well.
Coming out the can, the coffee aroma is prominent as expected. Yet, it is not as in your face as one of those espresso laden big stouts, instead, the touch of light roast gives way to aromas of bready malts and a touch of earthy hops.
The taste mainly features moderately sweet and soft bready malts, and a touch of biscuit, balanced by sweet grassy and floral hops. The coffee flavor is subtle, its presence adds a touch of roast and a dash of mild coffee flavor that adds a unique touch to the style. The finish has a trace of hops and roasty bitterness and coffee linger.
Medium bodied and with a mouthfeel that somehow oscillates between soft and crisp. The carbonation is moderate.
Interesting take on a traditional lager style. I like how they didn’t overdo it on the coffee and maintained the essence of the base style.
