Collaboration with Anarchy Brew Co. and Hackney Brewery
Saison with hibiscus, passion fruit & pink peppercorn. Soft peachy-pink hue, with classic saison yeast profile and a hint of tart passion fruit. Lightly hopped with Southern Passion hops from South Africa and a sprinkling of particularly juicy Centennial hops from Chimney Bluffs Hoppery in upstate New York. The perfect creature companion for food pairing and general poolside lounging. Bone-dry peppery finish.

Pours an interesting color that is a cross between yellow and amber, is cloudy and has actively visible carbonation. A dense foam head shows excellent retention.
The aroma opens with a fleeting earthy funk, however, soon gives way to passionfruit, and citrusy hops. There are also aromas of hay, honey malt, lime, pepper, hibiscus and fragrant flowers.
The taste opens with a hint of fruity sweetness that quickly turns tart in the middle palate. Flavors of passionfruit, hibiscus, lime, unripe grapefruit and dry crackermalt interact with the peppercorn aided peppery yeast. The finish is dry and peppery with a very mild and clean lingering hops bitterness.
Medium bodied with a soft and almost frothy mouthfeel. The carbonation is moderate to gentle; feels on par. Good balance overall between fruity, spicy and dry.
I’m fairly impressed by this Saison by the often outstanding KCBC brewery and its collaborators. I thought the adjuncts added a nice touch and complimented rather than overwhelming the style.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has some reddish hues and a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of hibiscus are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is mostly dominated by flavors of hibiscus. There are also some notes of passion fruit and hints of peppercorn.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No dryness is perceptible.
O: I liked the aromas and flavors of hibiscus in this saison. It was quite easy to drink.
