This is a relatively complex Brown Ale that is malty, rich, and nutty on the palate. The aroma presents a light caramel sweetness with a hint of dark fruit. It has the perfect amount of English hops added for balance.

12oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $2.50. No canned-on date. I've had this one sitting in my fridge or cellar for a while.
Look: This can was starting to implode. The beer came gushing out with a thigh khaki-colored head that eventually reduced to a half-finger. The beer itself is like a chestnut brown color with a bit of opacity/small particulates in suspension. It looks pretty nice. It would probably look nicer if there wasn't so much particulate suspension, however I am not going to hold that against it since that's on me for not consuming fresher.
Smell: I get a bit of acidity that almost reminds me of red wine along with the mild cherry aroma. There's a nice cherry almond/amaretto thing going on. Dark chocolate and some light coffee/mocha notes. I also get an earthy hop presence. Also a bit of brown sugar, molasses, and vanilla. Smells nice.
Taste: Pretty tasty. It is like the description says - "fairly complex" and it's also very drinkable and refreshing. It is a bit sweet, yet the beer eventually finishes leaving the palate dry with a mild, earthy bitterness. Nice dark chocolate and coffee flavors come through. The "vinous" nature of this beer is interesting and definitely gives it character. I kind of think that this beer has almost developed into an "old ale" in my cellar, which may also explain why it was gushing?
Feel: It has a medium body and mouthfeel. Nicely carbonated. Smooth.
Overall: My first Cushwa beer. It's a nice American Brown Ale. Not super special and also not so standard. I would like to try a fresher version of this at some point.

Clear mahogany appearance with ruby highlights. Medium size beige head settled into a thin layer while leaving good lacing. Aroma is offering up notes of coffee and toffee behind the wall of roasted malts. Initial taste is still malt-centric. Goodies like caramel, brownies, coffee and walnuts show up. Hops play a contributing role, keeping things balanced. Aftertaste is bittersweet. Smooth, medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. Overall, an easy drinker with a high comfort level.
