A true session beer that originated across the pond. The style was originally brewed to differentiate from an English Mild. You should find fruity esters in the aroma and taste, paired with a moderate bitterness from traditional English hops.

So for the record, my can calls this an ESB and lists the abv as 5.2% but I pretty sure it is the same beer. Great pour and very bready nose. Pretty lace as head recedes. The bread note is properly muddled with earthy and medicinal hops in the sip, which fits the style fairly well. I drank a ton of this style the year I lived in England and this is a reasonable facsimile, although I would try it on tap or cask before making a judgement.

12 oz can poured into a willi becher glass. Pours a deep chestnut copper color with a large head. Aroma and flavor feature (strong!) biscuity/bready malt with a hint of pumpernickel and malty black tea. Hops are present but restrained with some floral and earthy notes. Low bitterness, light caramel sweetness. Overall a very malty beer that's perfect for a cool spring night.
