A clean and crisp, traditional dark German lager. The aroma has notes of light roast coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is bread crust and roast, with a dry finish.

Cola brown. Head kicks its feet up and hangs out a bit. Nose strikes me as almost dry Irish stout-like. Definitely still a lager, but it has some nice roast-y characteristics. Tastes of toasted brown bread with almost a tootsie roll-like chocolate finish. Pretty mild bitterness; they're largely just letting the malt shine, which I appreciate. Drinks silky-smooth. I think this may be the first schwarzbier I've ever imbibed, but it's a style I really need to investigate further as it's fucking delicious. Like this one a lot.

16 ounce can poured into a Pilsner glass.
Canned 4/21/20
Pouring clear and cola brown it blacks out the glass. The head starts at two plus fingers of fluffy mocha brown foam and gradually fades to a thin cap that thickens with every swirl of the glass. The nose is a little subdued and malt forward featuring bread and bread crust, roast, a sweet chocolate and caramel combination and a touch of spicy hop aroma. Spicy and floral hops come through more abundantly in the flavor, bitterness is moderate. Malt flavor is minimally sweet bread crust, toast and light roast which drys a bit moving to a bitter, roasty and floral finish. Carbonation is medium-high, the body is crisp, light-medium in weight and finishes quick. The mouthfeel is clean of any mouth coating or astringent qualities. A pleasure to drink.
For my taste this is as good an American brewed Schwarzbier as I've had.
