West Coast IPAs are coming back in style? Sign us up. Happening Again is a nod to the resurgence in Westies with no thrills, just a nice charge of Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade, and Chinook. This beer is packed full of resinous, dank, grapefruit flavor, hitting all those bold notes of yester-year. Crisp with a welcoming lingering bitterness, this is one we can see ourselves going back to again and again.

An event that begins with the emptying of the entire contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug first produced a pleasant, almost soapy hop aroma. Then, the pour was made. Inside the vessel, it's basically commercial lager bright and light copper-amber, relatively translucent, with a modest white head on top. It drinks dryly hoppy, not overly bitter, like some in its style can and the malt body is good enough to carry the taste and add another layer. The mouthfeel is very good, despite the glass lacing being only scant. Maybe not a threat to the best West Coast style IPAs, but in a time of overly oated and wheated fluffy and fruity modern IPAs, this is a pleasant find.

Light haze. Citrus and pine nose with some sweet bready malt peaking through. Classic resin and grapefruit flavor. Touch of malt sets up contrast with firm hop finish. Carbonation and mouthfeel seem just right.

Pours a dark amber with fluffy head.
Smell is fruity and a bit sweet and floral. Notes of ice tea, citrus, peach, pine and some hints of vanilla and apricot.
Taste is fruity and floral with a solid bitterness. Notes of pine, grapefruit, peach, tea, caramel and a hint of vanilla.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and sticky with good carbonation.
Overall, a very tasty, modern take on a west coast IPA.
