On tap at Johnny's Gold Brick.
A: Pours a clear copper/brown color. A one finger white head forms and gently recedes. Not much lace is left behind though.
S: Grains up front and center. Cereal and cracker like up front. Maybe an earthy bitterness comes out as I get use to the grainy character. Though not much more I can pick out.
T: Like the nose, all cereal grains. Kind of a burnt toast flavor comes out the more I drink, along with a touch of earthy hop bitterness in the background. Though the grain character is the entire show.
M/O: A lighter body than I was expecting. Almost watery and just fairly thin and blah. There is not a lot of character here, and the cereal grains, burnt toast flavor does not work for me.
I love this style, and was excited to try a no frills offering from a local. I respect Eureka Heights, but this did not hit for me. Cereal grains and burnt toast are the main characteristics. Which is just not as "welcoming" as I would like for the style. The malt depth is simplistic, and no fruity esters that I love. About average for a basic Amber like Fat Tire, but not what I want for the style.
