This ESB is mighty special. Thumbs up to sick goals and sports and stuff. Drink some of this and you might start reciting Shakespeare or even Chaucer. This may be your Canterbury Tale.

Pours a somewhat hazy dark amber color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is very good as is lacing. Has a bready malty aroma with a hint of dark fruits. Nice, smooth, bready malts on the taste with some dark fruit, perhaps some apple. A nice amount of bitterness at the end. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation Definitely a nice shelfie to keep in the fridge.

Pours a brown color, its been so long since I had an esb, it was a bit of a shock at the darker than what I was used to SRM. Does have good clarity to it though. Oh, btw, this might be the best things written on a beer ever. High-larious. Seriously, always read Eureka House cans, their sense of humor is top notch! Off white head, 1/4".
The aroma was interesting, a little bit of bready nuttiness, toffee, caramel, but a light bitter hop too. The nuttiness starts to diversify itself giving idea of almond and pistachio. Good toastiness to the malt basis. Good light grassy hop presence that stays within traditional style guidelines. The beer definitely drinks so much lighter than its appearance. It really is easy to drink despite the relative complexity of it all.

pours a deep, clear copper with a finger of light khaki head that fades to a little cap on the glass.
nose is toasted bread, biscuit, earthy hops.
taste follows, bready biscuit up front, lightly fruity, toasted malts finish is toasted bread crust with a subtle grass/earthy hop bitterness that lingers along side toasted almond/nut character.
clean, crisp beer. very drinkable. medium carbonation

Look is dark copper to brown, fairly clear.
Smell was very off-putting, rancid fruit and dirty socks.
Taste was ok, very malty, some caramel, dried dark fruit, semisweet, slight bitterness on the back end. Carbonation was light to medium.
Overall, I guess it’s ok except for the smell. I’ve had much better examples of the style. I will not buy this again. That being said, you may really like it, beer is really subjective. Cheers!!!

Served on cask (with coffee) at The Hay Merchant (27-Jan-18; Houston, TX), served in a shaker pint. Slightly hazy copper brown with a minimal covering of white foam. Pleasant aromas of lightly toasted malts, freshly brewed coffee, subtle fruit notes, and grassy, earthy hops. Taste follows the nose with nutty malt and coffee flavors mixing nicely. Hopped enough for a balanced, but not overly bitter finish. Light to medium body with very light, soft carbonation. Very drinkable, especially on cask, with added coffee complementing the nutty base well.

A: Pours a clear reddish/brown color. A small one finger white head forms and recedes rather quickly. Not much lace is left behind either.
S: Bread and biscuit malts are abundant. Lightly toasted malts, light earthy and grassy hops in the finish.
T: A more nuanced malt character than the nose. As I am really enjoying the toasted, bready and biscuit malts. Maybe a touch grainy as well. There is a distinct earthy, grassy hop flavor with just a touch of bitterness. Very enjoyable.
M/O: A light to medium body. Moderate carbonation that is pretty smooth. Very clean as well. A very nice ESB, and something I continue to come back to.
I remember this being first released as just ESB, and I believe I reviewed it previously under that. Not being impressed at all. I stand by the review for that version, but as that is retired and they have obviously retooled it a bit. I find this to be really dialed in now. Still not on the level of Holler's ESB but really enjoyable none the less. I am glad there are two very good examples I can go to made locally in my neighborhood.

Had it from draft in an English pint. A deep reddish brown color with a decent head and good lacing. Subdued smell, slightly nutty. The taste is malty and nutty with a bitter finish. Good but not great ESB.
