Hopped with gobs of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra hops delivering delightfully dank, resinous, and piney aromatics and loads of tangerine, tropical fruit, and apricot. Pillowy smooth mouthfeel with a zesty finish. Only 4.8%? You Stay Hazy, San Diego!

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Pale Ale
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $14.39 for a 4-pack with AHA Card ($15.99 regular)
From: North Park Beer Company in North Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 7, 2020
Consumed: Aug. 8, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 5; One for Sonny, three for me
Was not going to get this one after going to North Park for three other 4-packs, but Rachel wanted something light so here we are. North Park’s website described this as, “Hopped with gobs of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra hops delivering delightfully dank, resinous, and piney aromatics and loads of tangerine, tropical fruit, and apricot. Pillowy smooth mouthfeel with a zesty finish. Only 4.8%? You Stay Hazy, San Diego!” Went back and forth on reviewing this as a New England Style or a American Session IPA, but settled on the haze.
Poured a medium yellow hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy-to-fizzy off-white head, which dissipated right away. Could see some bubbles shooting up along the upper sides of the glass. Good watery lacing. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.00)
Damn. Tons of flavor in the nose for such a low ABV beer. For hops there was a really nice balance of Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic. Specific characteristics were tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, tropical berry, apricot, pine, floral and lemon zest. Not as good out of the can, but did get a touch of earthy malt out of the can. (Smell - 4.75)
Taste followed the nose, but not quite as good (which would be hard to do.). In order got Citra, Simcoe, tangerine, papaya, grapefruit, apricot, Mosaic, tropical berry, pine, lemon zest and floral. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was a terrific New England Style beer. If I would have reviewed this as a session, it might have been my highest. Just so much flavor for a 4.8 pct. beer. (Overall - 4.25)

GROWLER
Milk blonde - tan with film. 4
A ton of peach, mint, dank and papaya. 4
Bread dough, grapefruit, oily herb, apricot, and kumquat. 4.25
Lemon zest linger.
Lt+, soft, twinkly. 4
Hop sack nose, lots of citrus high notes, + hits of kronik. New England profile in place, too. Swell, for 5%. But I feel like a week in a crowler did it no good. 4.25
