Brewed with 10lbs per barrel of freshly harvested Strata hops that were grown by Goschie Farms/Indie Hops in Oregon, this Wet Hop West Coast IPA expresses huge aromas of passion fruit, bright pineapple, and a righteous bag of sticky dank nugs. Get this one while you can, Strata hop harvest only happens once each year!

Glass: North Park 400-ml. Rastal Lawrence tumbler glass
Price: $24 for a 4-pack
From: North Park Beer Company in North Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: n/a; Received: Oct. 1, 2022
Consumed: Oct. 9, 2022
Misc.: Canned on Sept. 13, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)

Kevin picked up a 4-pack of this and two others. Was happy to get to try it. Untappd description was “Brewed with over 12lbs per barrel of same-day harvested Strata hops grown by Goschie Farms via Indie Hops in Oregon, this Wet Hop West Coast IPA expresses MASSIVE aromas of passion fruit, juicy pineapple, mouthwatering watermelon and a righteous dankness of sticky nugs. Get this one while you can, Strata hop harvest only happens once each year!”

Poured a medium yellow clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class watery foggy lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled Strata, cotton candy, watermelon, strawberry, dank weed, peach, mango, red grapefruit, pineapple and passion fruit. Had me wanting to try it right away, although from the can wasn’t as good. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t as good as the nose. Still got Strata, dank weed, pine, cotton candy, watermelon, strawberry, mango, red grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, peach and lingering spice. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Just another outstanding West Coast IPA from North Park. (Overall - 4.00)

Sweet tropical hoppy and fresh, piney-dank nose on this one! The aromatics are just a touch muted here...I was expecting it to pop a little more since it is wet hopped. Taste follows with a super clean, hoppy and piney bitter finish. This is really well-balanced...finishes so clean and crushable. Really good!

A good beer from a great brewery. Doesn't really capture the glory of wet hop beers as much as it could. Good ipa

Beautiful golden liquid with a robust white head.
Nose is surprisingly muted and vaguely reminiscent of a tropical drink. Disappointing for a wet hip beer.
Taste is great, big grassy pineapple up front with some softer sweet citrus and papaya notes in the mix as well. Super well balanced between sharp bitterness and soft sweet Gelato qualities.

Can dated All The Freshies 09/16/20 into an imperial nonic pint glass.

L: Pours bright golden, slight chill haze, with 1+ finger of medium-density white head with good retention and left sticky windshield ringed lacing.

S: Amazing nose, floral and tropical fruit, fresh pineapple hiding underneath. Subtle dankness shows as it warms.

T: Follows the nose very well, more prominence of the dank aspects. Finishes with moderate bitterness, which pleasantly and subtly lingers on the palate while slowly drying.

F: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, slick on the tongue and the swallow.

O: I'd heard good things about North Park's Strata brews, and must admit this one was outstanding for my palate and preferences. I think this may be the best CA-based wet hop beer that I've personally had to date. So much dimension but with soft edges where everything meshes so well. I'm wishing I'd ordered more than 1 4pk.
