Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $21.99 for a mixed 4-pack
From: North Park Beer Company in North Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 4, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 11, 2021
Misc.: Collab with Cellarmaker; Canned on Feb. 2, 2021

Snuck over to North Park to grab a mixed 4-pack of new releases from the past two weeks. North Park’s website called it “After a long and dangerous journey full of danktifying terrors, the NPBC crew, armed only with Cyro Hops and a Brew Paddle, made their way back from their ultimate mission: Create The DANKEST IPA Collaboration Ever Assembled, with their homies at Cellarmaker. With a hop bill that includes Nectaron, Citra, Galaxy, Citra Cryo, & Nelson Sauvin, the dank are most definitely alive and walking the streets.” Loving the Nectaron almost every time I had it. Had high hopes going in.

Poured a medium yellow hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Plenty of bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled Nectaron, dank weed, skunky resin, pine, peach, stone fruit, Nelson, red grapefruit, Citra, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya and hints of mentioned Galaxy. Damn, dank is right. Not as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.50)

First thing on the taste that it reminded me of a original Alpine beer. I think Duet, but maybe Bad Boy. That’s what came up in my head first. Got dank weed, skunky resin, pine, Nectaron, peach, stone fruit, Nelson, red grapefruit, mixed berry, floral, Citra, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, hints of the mentioned Galaxy and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, dank finish. (Feel - 4.75)

Damn. This was tremendous. May have not given this enough credit, but it’s world-class. (Overall - 4.50)

DDH WCIPA vs NEIPA?
I’m not sure, but it doesn’t matter. It’s really good.
L: hazy tangerine with fluffy creamy head that never dies.
S: stonefruit, wine, grapes, dank, orange.
T: (same as smell). Added citrus grapefruit bite. Thankfully more bitter than sweet.
F: fairly full not super thick. No booze.
Overall: Phenomenal. Really got the best of both styles here. And I don’t say that lightly.

Sweet stonefruit, white wine grape, tropical hoppy, and tropical diggity dank nose on this one! Yowza! They weren't messing around with the danky aromatics! Taste follows with a tasty, fruity tropical hoppy, and orange citrus dank finish. I'm so glad the galaxy hops took a back seat with this one...it allowed the nelson and citra to shine through. This is so soft on the palate...soft like a double but drinks like a single. Great stuff!

Can dated 02/02/21 into a tulip glass.

Lives up to the name.

L: Dirty yellow with 2+ fingers of frothy white head with good retention and left mixed lacing.

S: Very Nelson forward, gains dimension as it warms. Loved it!

T: Lots of dank deliciousness, Simcoe and Nelson shine. Gains some tropical aspects but not until substantially warmed. Finishes with moderate bitterness and some acidity, acidity lingers.

F: Medium bodied with medium carbonation, tongue tingles from acidity, full on swallow.

O: Outstanding collab, and I'll be grabbing more if I can! Hope it sees a repeat brew.
