Our head brewer once spent his days pushing pixels around making art for video games, but now his time is spent pushing around hops and designing art in a drinkable format; beer! This tribute to all the pixel pushers of the world is a double dry hopped Hazy Double IPA that is layered up with Citra Incognito, Cashmere, Mosaic Cryo, Citra Cryo, Motueka, and Nelson Sauvin hops and fermented with our favorite expressive yeast.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $5.69
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 6, 2021
Consumed: April 11, 2021
Misc.: Canned on March 30, 2021
Grabbed a can of this and a bunch of other stuff on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Had this at Sonny’s on April 2, writing “Thanks for the hookup, Sonny S.! this beer will be great in 7-to-10 days.” Here we are nine days later. Their email description called it “Our head brewer once spent his days pushing pixels around making art for video games, but now his time is spent pushing around hops and designing art in a drinkable format; beer! This tribute to all the pixel pushers of the world is a double dry hopped Hazy Double IPA that is layered up with Citra Incognito, Cashmere, Mosaic Cryo, Citra Cryo, Motueka, and Nelson Sauvin hops and fermented with our favorite expressive yeast.” Really looking forward to having this one again.
Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
For the mentioned hops, Cashmere stood out first on the nose, followed by Motueka and Citra, and lesser Mosaic and Nelson. Something slightly off here, though, kind of reminding me of the latest IPAs from Modern Times. Also bubblegum, herbal, tea, melon, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, white grape and coconut. Much better out of the can with Citra shining through. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted better than the nose for sure. Was getting all that 9.0 pct. ABV though. For mentioned hops, more Motueka and Cashmere, followed by Citra, and lesser Mosaic and Nelson. Also herbal, tea, melon, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, white grape, bubblegum, coconut, cedar, floral, hints of banana and some peppery spice. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Rather smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was outstanding but was really hoping for more. Something just wasn’t there. I’d argue it wasn’t even as good as the last time I had a can nine days prior. (Overall - 4.00)
