For our newest DDH Hazy IPA we blended up Mosaic Incognito with big hits of Mosaic Cryo, Mosaic, El Dorado, Strata, and new to us Zappa hops! A bounty of passionfruit, pine, mixed berries, fresh squeezed OJ, and herbaceous dankness hits the palate with a spicy hop bite in the finish.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $5.99
From: Valley Farm Market in Spring Valley, Calif.
Purchased: April 22, 2021
Consumed: May 2, 2021
Misc.: Canned on April 13, 2021
Had been wanting to go to Valley Farm Market for quite some time and actually went there on April 22 after going the wrong way coming back from golfing in Chula Vista. Got off the 94E to turn around and saw this, so pulled in and picked up a few things. Seemed a little pricey at $5.99 but most of the Valley Farm Market stuff seemed about a dollar more than it should have been. Their website called it “For our newest DDH Hazy IPA we blended up Mosaic Incognito with big hits of Mosaic Cryo, Mosaic, El Dorado, Strata, and new to us Zappa hops! A bounty of passionfruit, pine, mixed berries, fresh squeezed OJ, and herbaceous dankness hits the palate with a spicy hop bite in the finish.” Didn’t know much about Zappa but a quick look at the hop profile and it called for passionfruit, mint, spice, tropical fruits, and fruity pebbles. Consider me in.
Poured a light gold hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see just a few bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled big Mosaic right away, followed by Strata, El Dorado and Zappa (looking again at the hop profile). Particularly got mango, pulpy orange juice, bubblegum, dank weed, rose blossom, melon, cantaloupe, mixed berry, passion fruit, Fruity Pebbles and herbal. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. Lots of stuff going on here. Mosaic and Strata jumped out, but definitely the mentioned El Dorado and Zappa (according to the hop profile). Specifically mango, pulpy orange juice, dank weed, bubblegum, rose blossom, mixed berry, passion fruit, Fruity Pebbles, melon, cantaloupe, grapefruit rind, herbal and grass. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.50)
I think I underrated this a tad overall, but it was excellent at least. Another awesome beer from North Park. (Overall - 4.25)
