The true origins of Mr. Hop-Fu! are unknown but legend has it that he comes from a land down under where hops are grown and minds are blown. To back up this claim, we present exhibit A "The Dank from Down Under" Hazy West Coast IPA with Enigma, Galaxy, Freestyle Nelson, Nelson CGX and Nectaron. Dank and dieselly on the nose with robust tasting notes of juicy peach, bold passion fruit, tropical pineapple and a hint of white peppery spice at the end. The flavor on this beauty kicks harder than a kangaroo and has a mouthfeel softer than a koala, so get ready for a sensory adventure wilder than the Outback.

From: North Park Beer Company in North Park (San Diego), Calif.

Consumed: June 4, 2022
Misc.: Canned on May 24, 2022; Split (1/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (2/4)
Kevin picked up a four-pack of this and I got one. North Park’s website called for “The true origins of Mr. Hop-Fu! are unknown but legend has it that he comes from a land down under where hops are grown and minds are blown. Poured a medium yellow hazy color with five fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled Nectaron and Nelson, followed by Galaxy and lesser Enigma (looking up hop profile). Also peach, nectarine, passion fruit, Hawaiian Fruit Punch, Fruity Pebbles, tangerine, Tang, pineapple and grapefruit rind. Even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got Nectaron and Nelson, followed by Galaxy and lesser Enigma (looking at the hop profile). Also peach, nectarine, passion fruit, Hawaiian Fruit Punch, Fruity Pebbles, tangerine, Tang, pineapple, grapefruit rind, papaya and orange. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Tried to knock this down a peg or two but for a West Coast IPA (even a hazy West Coast IPA) this was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
