Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $22.00 for a 4-pack
From: North Park Beer Company in North Park (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: June 15, 2022
Consumed: June 18, 2022
Misc.: No canned on date; Split (2/4) with Sonny (1/4) and Kevin (1/4)
Grabbed a 4-pack of this and City of the Future on a recent trip to North Park. Bine & Vine’s website described it as “Hey Batter, Batter, Batter, Sssswwiinngg Batter! Hopped up with Strata HopHash, Mosaic Cryo, Strata CGX, Nelson, Strata and Mosaic.” Sounded awesome.
Poured a pale-to-medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Decent foggy lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled awesome from the get go. Such a great mix of Strata and Mosaic (pretty equal) with Nelson being a great contributor. Specifically got dank weed, grass, pine, resin, bubblegum, rose blossom, floral, mixed berry, mango, tangerine, black pepper, papaya, gooseberry and grapefruit. Not as good from the can. (Smell - 4.75)
Taste was not nearly as good as the nose but that would be expected. In order got Strata, dank weed, pine, resin, Mosaic, bubblegum, rose blossom, floral, mixed berry, Nelson, mango, tangerine, papaya, gooseberry, grapefruit and black pepper. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.75)
My God this was a great West Coast IPA. Felt like I underrated it too. (Overall - 4.50)
