This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like port, with slightly tart fruit, lactose, and milk chocolate.
The port barrels and the lactose kind of clash here for me, and make this a little bit too sweet, with a semi-tartness that doesn't work me. The base sort of falls flat. This is a touch better than the non barrel aged version, but it's still not all that great.
This is medium bodied, kind of creamy, with not the best drinkability.
I really wanted to love this one, but it was unfortunately somewhat mediocre.

Pours a dark reddish-brown with a thick tan head (with some hint of red) that lasts and lasts! On the nose, roasted malts, dried fruit, dark chocolate, and port. On the palate, chocolate, dark fruit, port wine and finishes with more chocolate and hint of port barrel. No alcohol burn in spite of the 9.4% ABV. Medium to full bodied with added creaminess due to the low carbonation and lactose. Overall, an outstanding milk stout, Alchemist has yet to disappoint me!

16 oz. can.
Released two days ago.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1.5 inch tan (with hints of red) head over a dark brown body (with hints of red.) Nose of dark malt, dark fruit, bitter chocolate, and port. Taste of bitter chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, slight port, and finishing with chocolate and red grape. Woah! Tasty stuff right here, and so unique! Damn, I need to get more of this before it's gone! Oh yeah, feel is more than adequate and overall, I'm pretty sure I've never had a port barrel aged milk stout so I can honestly say it's the best in its class!!
;)
Cheers to Mr. Kimmich for this gem!!!
