Plenty pineapple happening here. Soda pop bubbly head without any staying power, no lace. Nose is more boozy that anything else, overlaid on pineapple. Tart up front and down the middle, bitter finish. Very sharp mouthfeel overall. Pineapple to taste, not a lot of beeriness happening. Maybe good as poolside fare.

Pours cloudy gold colour with a small head. The smell has hints of pineapple and grains. The taste is pineapple forward with hints of crackers and a bit of beer. I don’t detect the advertised salt. Considering this is a fruit beer, I enjoyed it for what it is

355 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 5 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy, translucent blonde-yellow colour, producing one finger of soapy, foamy white head that melts off within a minute or two. It leaves behind a wavering curtain of lace, in addition to a frothy collar surrounding a filmy cap of suds - looks good so far. The nose is subtle - I'm definitely getting pineapple juice, as well as hints of wheaty, grainy pale malts, but not a whole lot else.
Tastes alright, albeit a little weird - pineapple juice at the forefront, backed by hints of wheaty grains. Not much deviation from that until the finish, where more of a sour pineapple tanginess starts to come through, as well as some light saltiness; hints of pineapple flesh and salt linger into the aftertaste. More juice than beer. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that gently prickle the palate, giving a little bit of a bite to this brew's otherwise smooth, juice-like mouthfeel. I could've polished off this can in a few minutes, but I'm not exactly in a hurry for more.
Final Grade: 3.29, a C+. Ace Hill's Island Pineapple Lager is all pineapple, not much lager. Don't get me wrong - being predominantly fruity and juicy is not a critical problem for a fruit beer, but there just wasn't much to this one at all. Yeah, there's some saltiness too, which I suppose works fine alongside the pineapple... but I found the overall experience to be underwhelming. This is my least favourite Ace Hill product so far, and I wouldn't seriously recommend it to anyone who isn't a huge fan of pineapple juice.
