Featuring smoked malts and spicy British hops, Summit Get Smoked Porter offers balanced notes of bittersweet chocolate and ingredients from around the world — including Chilean malt and chipotle peppers from the U.S. UK Golden Promise pale malt combines with beech smoked malt from Germany and mesquite smoked malt from the U.S. to provide a complex foundation for aromas of dark fruit, roasted grain, figs and black pepper. With a couple extra knuckles in its punch, a bold smoky flavor leads to a slightly bittersweet, spicy finish.

Scrappy notes from 2019. 3 bottles in a mixed 12 pack is the only way to get this beer. I bought two 12 packs.
6.1%ABV 40IBU Pours very black with a tan head, lightly smoked smell that includes a gentle sensation of smoked/dries meats, darkly toasted caramelized malts, figs, coffee with a fast dry finish, slight heat & pepper flavor hangs on, heat returns. It is excellent in it's style.

Pours very dark. 2 finger tan head. The head retention is decent, and there's some lacing on the glass as the head dissipates.
The nose has a nice smoked undertone to the malts. I just get the faintest hint of peppers in the mix.
Taste - It is a total mash up, and one that is working for me. It switches between smoke, heat from the peppers, back to smoke, to a bit of sweetness, back to smoke, back to heat.
Maybe a bit lighter bodied than I was expecting, though the heat from the peppers linger in my throat.
This is a damn tasty beer, and it hits a lot of my sweet spots, in my sour body.

Tastes like expired cheap generic beef jerky you'd buy at a gas station. Very disappointed. Cant believe this is made by Summit. EPIC Fail.

Smoke, chocolate bitterness with Chipotle peppers at the finish. Really an enjoyable Porter. Not too spicy and really flavorful.

Gotta be honest, when I bought the mixed 12 pack, this is the one I worried about not enjoying as I'm not a fan of "smoked" beers. Pleasantly surprised. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head that falls away slowly. Nice lacing. Aroma is not this beers strong point, muted dark roasted malts and some campfire. Flavor is quite like the nose but has some nice heat/bite from the peppers. Feel is on the thick side of medium bodied. Overall a very pleasant beer.

Aroma of smoked wood, hints of smoked meat. Clear deep ruby, tall milk-chocolate colored head, receding quickly, leaving sparse strings of lacing behind, settling to a bubbly cap and bubbly ring. Moderate feel. Not at all thin. Initial taste is as the aroma: smoke, cured meat, roasted malts, coffee. The smoky taste remains throughout, but the finish and aftertaste is hot spice on the tongue and back of the throat. Not overbearing, but quite a hit to the palate. Overall, nicely balanced between the smokiness and the heat. The heat, though, defines the finish. Not my favorite Summit beer, but it is very well done for what it is trying to achieve, hence my rating.

Appearance: Very dark brown, good head.
Smell: Starts with coffee roast, then smoked ham.
Taste: Roasted malts, then a peppery smokiness, with more pepper spicy heat in the finish.
Overall: Beer #4 in the ratskeller pack. I like smoked beers and Summit does this one well. I'm not the biggest chili beer fan but the pepper heat was not too much for me. Best in the pack.

Poured from 12oz bottle into glass. Date code etched on bottle is '81110W2120347'.
Black colored body, with garnet colored back lit highlights. Paler than expected head, which is more of an ivory color. Head, which was one finger thick upon pouring, recedes back rather quickly to bubbly, thin cap and ring. Leaves behind a good coverage of lacing.
Aroma has a mesquite influenced smoke, along with a smoke more like cooked meat. Roasted malts join in. I can force myself to smell vegetal pepper influence but no pepper heat.
Taste has the smooth smoke, and the peppers appear as a slight sear to the back of the throat. Roasted malts also, and fig and plum join in late. Slight bittersweet chocolate overlay.
Thin to medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Good balance among smoke, roasted malts, and pepper heat. Quite different from other Summit beers. Really only for those beer drinkers who are looking for smoke and heat in their porter. Balance is the key feature here.

Nice porter base to this. I think the smoke is about perfect. It does not overwhelm but brings a added nice dimension to the this.
My biggest issue is the pepper usage. In theory it would seem to fit nicely but the peppers lack flavor and just add an unneeded blast of heat to the back of your throat (and I like hot peppers and hot pepper sauces). Not sure what the pepper used was or how it can be implemented without bringing so much heat and not flavor. I'd prefer a little more pure pepper flavor...not a lot but a touch to blend with the smoke and a dialing down of the pure heat.
Creamy body..perfect weight....the heat drops the feel score down for me.
Still, a very nice beer flavor for the most part.

Pours ink-black, topped with a darker tan head. Good lacing.
On the nose there’s light smoke, roasted and cocoa malt character, along with a touch of herbal/medicinal character.
Sweet and slightly biting on the first sip, with a good palate-coating slickness. Warming... but from the heat of the peppers more than the alcohol content. Smokiness starts rather mild before becoming more pronounced, especially as it warms.
Very easy to drink if you can get past the spiciness of the pepper. Might be a touch sweeter than I’d like for a stand-alone beer of the moment, butbInhave no doubt that this would be an awesome pairing with smoked meats and various sloppy red sauce barbecue!
I’m a big fan of Summit’s original Great Northern Porter, and this is a reasonably true to style take on that. Recommended if smokey, spicy beer is your cup of tea.

Nice black porter. The head was a little thin however. Chiplotle combines well with the aroma of dark and chocolate malt. Has a little chile heat that is felt in the back of the throat. Complimentary smoke and herbal hops add to the flavor. Nice body and properly carbonated.
