Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head as a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a cracker and yeasty smell mixed with other aromas of some bubblegum and orange. Along with these aromas comes some rather potent smells of lemon and a little bit of a grassy and floral smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp bready flavor that has a modest sum of yeast right upfront. There are fruity citrus notes of orange and lemon along with some wheat bread that create a rather strong base for the beer. As the taste advances hops of a floral and grassy flavor come to the tongue leaving one with a clean citrus wheat flavor.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thicker and chewier for a brew with a rather modest abv. These characteristics are great for the yeasty and slightly bready taste of the brew and create a mouthfeel that accentuates the more subtle flavors of the brew rather well.
Overall – This was one tasty brew with a rich flavor of yeast, bread, lemon and a light hop that all meld nicely together to create a flavorful but yet balanced saison. Rather well done.
