a very interesting recipe here, a sour rye mash lager, but not a sour beer, a cool concept and it has yielded a slightly nuanced but still approachable easy drinking lager thats both dry and crisp, but also dynamic and distinctive, uncommon for a pale lager like this, and i was impressed with both the idea and the execution. nothing remarkable about the appearance, but the aroma and flavor make it stand out. its got a little bit of a wet earthy complexion, some light rye type spice, but also a cool rawness, like it wasnt really boiled long, and its malt forward without having any real sugar to it at all, pretty unique. light pepper and pizza dough to me, not a whole lot of hops but a little bit of bitterness late to make it snappy, and a curious lager yeast thing thats european to me but im so used to this with pils malt that is almost appears as a new strain to me. german maybe. liquid bready but light, almost healthy somehow. the short of it is that this is a tasty, flavorful, and easy drinking brew, but id really like to know more about this mash and process, its clearly produced a one of a kind beer. nice innovation across the board in here, this was delicious, one of the more creative pale lagers ive had in some time. bravo!
