In high support of the local homebrewing community, Mirror Twin collaborates with local homebrewers often, and this rye special bitter is a fantastic example of a hobby taste that's gone pro.
Joy Ryed comes with a deep copper, nearly bronze hue and with a mild haze. Its creamy off white froth captures the classic toasty, nutty, woodsy scent of classic British beer but this time with that tingling spice of rye in the back of the nose. Malty sweet and much more than just caramel, the toasty taste of butterscotch, toasted pecan and a hint of maple comes with a culmination of granola.
But then the flavors begin to meld together over the middle palate. A slow relaxation of sweetness trends patiently drying as the taste of rye adds a zip and zest that's a husken nuttiness, peppery taste and a toasty bite. Hop bitterness complement the generous rye additions with a light floral upstart and a soft woodsiness. Estery hints of apricot and peach add a marmalade character before the broad, woodsy bitterness and rustic rye grit round out the session.
Medium bodied and trending malty dry, the beer's even keel support has a bright hoppy taste and a soft resinous bitterness, a bold expression of pine, oak and nuttiness brings the malt and hops together, decorated with the soilish spice that only rye can provide.
