For those times when sour this, roast that, bitter this, sweet that... sometimes you just one to turn the brain completely off and just drink the damn beer. Well, Mirror Twin has a beer for just that occasion. Their American pilsner hosts the familiar taste of pilsner malt along with a spicy hop balance that would make anyone from 1968 right at home.
Pale straw and laced with a fine haze, the frothy, fizzy lager settles in the glass with light carbonated sparkle. Spicy on the nose, the European hops carry a mild floral scent of honeysuckle along with the grassiness of parsley and the spice of lemon pepper. Sweet and lightly cereal-like on the tongue, the malt contingency is bready, soft and layered with confectioner's sweetness.
As the lager washes the middle palate, its malt influence weakens and the hops grow into a balancing agent with lemon pepper, lemongrass and an overall peppery grass flavor. Hints of apple esters come with a mild sulfur drift in a bittersweet late palate of green tea, stemmy grassiness and a slight tannin spice.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the beer's linger of bitterness outlasts the malt sweetness slightly for a medium length undertow of herb and hay.
