Sometimes the stars send us a message. This time around, it's hazy with Citra and Strata. Prepare yourself for notes of juicy berries and delicately dank peach. Look upward, drink thoughtfully.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Monkish 16-oz. mug
Price: $4.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 27, 2021
Consumed: April 27, 2021
Misc.: Canned on March 2, 2021
Headed over the Windmill Farms to see what new stuff they had and came across three new Ruse beers. Nice to see Ruse beer make its way into the San Diego market. Saw the March 2 COD, but wanted some anyway so had to have it right away. Online description was “Sometimes the stars send us a message. This time around, it's hazy with Citra and Strata. Prepare yourself for notes of juicy berries and delicately dank peach. Look upward, drink thoughtfully.”
Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Could see some bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect layered foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Strata, pine, grapefruit, Citra, menthol, herbal, honey, lemon citrus, pineapple, weed and grass. Seemed a bit past its prime, but that Strata still had me. Much better from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got Strata, pine, grapefruit, Citra, menthol, herbal, weed, grass, lemon citrus and honey. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was very good overall. I really think the age (55 days) might have affected this one a little bit. (Overall - 4.00)
