how great are these guys?! still somehow under the radar, but after a couple more of their beers recently, i am leading the bandwagon, this beer is absurd, they have all been so far in my experience. to call this a berliner is the understatement of a lifetime, definitely wood aged and wild as can be, not sure what makes this edition a grand cru, but it has a nice galaxy hop profile to it that adds a cool freshness to an otherwise outrageously mature and woody beer. softly hazy straw yellow brew with a short airy white head, not as bubbly as some of the others ones in this messe series. funk to the max, almost like straight lambic, except for the fact that its so dry hoppy, southern hemisphere, vinous, and tropical in that regard, but the base beer is woody, wheaty, wild, and mature, mouthwatering and nuanced and it amazing at temperature. lemons and white tea and pineapple from the hops, some nice acidity but mellowed by all the oak, light green apple and white wine here too. brett and wild rustic funk, hayloft and pollen and dried flowers. gorgeous beer, quite hoppy, but another epic iteration of this base beer!
