Opaque, black, beautifully accented head with strong retention and impressive lacing; an olfactory overload featuring boozy, smoky, and peppery notes and traces of vanilla, toasted nuts, and toasted coconut; rye and bourbon both manifest distinctly in spicy and orange citrus, strong notes of coconut, vanilla, and American oak; impressive, velvet mouth feel, perhaps a bit thinner than I'd like; overall, this is an impressive session stout, free of adjuncts and delightfully complex, begging to be sipped and understood.
