Really pushing the lifespan on this one, definitely should have cracked this much closer to canning.
The appearance is what drew me into this beer and put Troon on my radar. Just a glass of straight orange juice - opaque, beautiful orange color that might even be a shade darker than orange juice. Blink and you'll miss a fizzy head.
Mango mango mango on the nose. Unsurprising given just how much of this beer is mango by volume. Juicy hops right there with the mango, a little booze buried in there as well.
Taste follows the nose; mango, juicy hops, orange, little bit of vanilla. No booze here though, just a chrushable tropical smoothie that'll sneak up on you with every last digit of its 10%.
Very little carb, which may be 5 months in a crowler or may be the sheer quantity of adjuncts. Probably the biggest area for improvement, could certainly see a better mouthfeel pushing this more towards a mango smoothie.
Definitely should have drank this fresh as it feels a bit subdued, but the flavors that are there are brilliant. A perfect beer for a day on a beachfront patio, just make sure you've got the whole afternoon free to cope with the well hidden 10%. Troon knocking another one out of the park.
