dHop1 is our 8.5% DIPA with an intense mosaic forward hop bill. This latest iteration is converging on what we like to drink. Applying what we’ve learned from this series, we were able to pull a very bright and tropical mosaic. It pours a very lively tangerine color, releasing notes of bright citrus, tropical melon, cream, and just a touch of dank earth. The taste is a juicy piney tropical melon, with layers of hop resins that roll around the tongue making it extremely drinkable.

The beer pours a nice white foamy head that dissipates at a moderate pace while the beer itself is a good looking cloudy orange yellow that is pretty nice.
The smell is very good. It has a strong orange note in the front with a bit of dankness that shows but does not overwhelm and complements the other notes. There is a good tropical melon note that gets lost in the orange notes. A bit of a toasted malt note also comes out. The taste shares the same notes with a strong tangerine note in the front but the dank is a bit more noticeable and balanced equally with the tangerine note. There is a bright citrus splash in the finish with some light melon too.
The feel is good. It is a medium heavy body with some light carbonation and is interestingly creamy.
Overall, this was a pretty good DIPA and glad I picked some up while it was available.

Deep hazy orange color that, because it’s so dark, looks a bit murky. Nice frothy white head.
Nose bursts of huge tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, pineapple with a nice balancing sticky dankness. Some stone fruit and melon definitely up in there as well.
Taste follows with big bold intense hop flavor, same tropical fruits, with melon and peach/apricot pushing more to the forefront. Citrus joins the party with juicy clementine/tangerine notes. Rounds out with that sticky resiny hop goodness I’ve come to love from EQ.
Incredible beer, reminds me why Mosai —though overused and abused—is one of the best hops out there

Sooooo juicy, especially on the front end, followed by a smooth earthy dankness and clean tart finish. Very little ABV hint to clean the palate. First beer from Equilibrium but definitely not last.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Equilibrium Brewery, Middletown, NY
7/10/18
Served in a teku
Hazy yellow ochre appearance. The liquid was topped by a tight, frothy, finger-tall, bright white head that fell to a thick, lasting halo. Tiny streaks of lacing stuck along the glass.
The aroma was amazingly hoppy and pure. Really juicy and fruit forward with strong peach and apricot notes. Loads of honeydew melon too. Bit of honey drizzled mango as well. Fairly sweet but not excessively so. Some Mosaic hop dankness appeared as the beer warmed.
The flavor was very similar to the nose and just as spectacular. Peach and apricot notes came through strongest. Honeydew melon was also quite noticeable. Good dose of mango too. Big pineapple presence in the center, along with some tart lemon and wheatiness. Citrus notes came forth as the beer more along the palate. Juicy tangerine flesh and pithy tangerine rind appeared on the finish. Hint of bitterness after the swallow.
Solid mouthfeel. Medium-light bodied. Soft, smooth and fluffy on the palate. The liquid contained a fine, fairly subtle effervescence.
dHop1 is a terrific fruity, juicy, New England-style double IPA that resembles some of the better hoppy offerings by Tree House, Trillium, etc. I am glad I ventured out to Middletown on my recent Hudson Valley trip to grab a few four packs, and I hope to see their beers making it to draft lines more frequently in my region.
