Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Collab with District 96 Beer Factory. Sexual Fluctuation is a Citra/Galaxy blend. It pours a hazy tangerine orange and releases releasing aromas of passion fruit, peach, lime, and pineapple all integrated with a juicy twist. The taste is a bright creamy tropical sorbet flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced. This beer takes dHop5’s lunch money and gives it a wedgie.

L: Poured from a growler to a snifter glass. Had a yellow-orange color and a super-cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Very good lacing.

S: A solid aroma of tropical fruit, hops, malt, and citrus fruit.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of hops (less than expected), a bit of citrus fruit (lime, orange), a little bit of malt (not overly prevalent), and lots of tropical fruit (pineapple). This is a well-balanced flavor. It's quite fruity, but the hops presence provides a good counterpoint. The fruit elements aren't overly intense, but certainly makes it tasty.

F: A highly carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A solidly made, easy to drink DIPA. Drinkable.

IPA tasting with DC, #4.

Look: light hazy yellow. Small head.

Aroma: hoppy goodness. Light grapefruit and pineapple.

Taste: smooth wheat and citrus and tropical fruit. Very tasty.

Feel: Super heaviness that really lets the flavor shine and linger in your mouth.

L - I do love this name! Pours a dull yellowy orange. Head dissipates quickly but leaves behind some nice lacing. Got some pretty serious legs here. Should be a fun one. Gotta say though, OG Fluctuation looked better!

S - green pineapple and lupilin-laden dank tropical aromas. Mango, Mandarin oranges, and tangerine.

T - oh my, the Galaxy does this beer nicely. Pineapple juice shot up front, veering off into honeydew and cantaloupe. The melon is strong here. Toasted peach and passionfruit bitterness. A touch of lactose and lemon-lime on the finish, topped off with EQ's very own tart sour oat.

F - lush and velvety soft. Hefty body with a stickiness that complemented the spicy dank contained within.

O - warm and inviting flavors, this beer feels more vast than Fluctuation, but is hopped differently enough that it has its own personality.

7 days old when reviewed. Poured from 16 oz. can into District 96 tulip glass. It pours an opaque, almost murky, brownish-orange color with a thin cap of creamy, milk-white head and extensive, clinging lacing. It's a very attractive pour. On the nose there is lemon, lime, peach, some sweet tropical fruit, onion, mint leaves, pine, and a whiff of vanilla/lactose. There's not much hop presence in the smell. The taste is amazing! It's so nuanced. The first taste I notice is sweet tropical fruit and vanilla, much like Equillibrium's Fluctuation. Then, there is tart lemon and lime, followed by a dose of Citra and Galaxy hops that are delicate but very flavorful, without a strong bite. All of the flavors blend beautifully to create an overall delicious DIPA. This ale is creamy, full-bodied, with a near perfect level of carbonation, and the 8% ABV is just enough to give it a real pop without being distracting. It's risky to try to merge two DIPAs as good as Fluctuation and Sexual Frustration, but Equilibrium and District 96 succeed beyond reasonable expectation. Sexual Fluctuation is a tour de force! I'm glad it is brewed periodically and I will always seek it out.

Crowler purchased at the source at last Saturday's release.

Typical solid, EQ kinda NEIPA pour, thick squash soup in color and cloudiness, leaves a load of fine lacing all over the glass. Great looking beer.

Over ripe sniff, loaded with tropical goodness.

Creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

Oranges, pineapple, mango, kiwi, all coming to mind as this flows into and through the mouth.....delicious, inviting and thoroughly enjoyable....
