Think dHop5 but with another one of our favorite hop combos from the fractal series: Citra and Mosaic. dHop9 (8.5% ABV) is a DIPA that supersizes one of our favorite Equilibrium IPAs: Fractal Citra/Mosaic. We scaled Fractal’s grain bill, water treatment, fermentation, and super sized the hop bill of our new high oil citra and mosaic. dHop9 pours a milky straw yellow releasing notes of orange juice (with pulp), dank citrus, and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank pineapple juice, pine and a touch of melon. dHop9 possesses a chewy mouth feel with a firm, pointed bitterness.

This was a big letdown. Malty, hoppy, unattractive... reminded me of a West Coast IPA circa 2005. Not creamy, not juicy, not fluffly... why? I appreciate Equilibrium's experiments, but this is not for me.

L - pours a glowing, vaguely translucent orange amber. Big bubble craters in the head with sticky lacing left behind.
S - penetrating pineapple. Like, really focused. Great aromatic depth. Slight caramel sweetness and some dough. Fruit strips and dank orange.
T - interesting. Sweet, dark, resiny orange candy flavor with some serious lasting power. It just sits on the tongue long after the liquid has entered my stomach. Starts sticky and sweet. Heavy. Sugary lemon water. Vanilla creamsicle. Beads up and slowly transitions to herbal and grassy with a splash of oat. Lots more malt than expected, but it works great here; doesn't turn it into a caramel mess. Adds a "hot" tropicalia to the flavor profile.
F - low carbonation and a creamy viscosity to complement the taste. Full and fluffy.
O - unique and interesting brew off the beaten path. A touch more malty than the company it keeps, yet still retains that distinctive hop juiciness and herbal bitterness.

From last weeks release, tall can....thanks Da lung for the hook up.
Typical quality looking EQ NEIPA pour
Earthy, lemon infused nose
Citric on the palate, with some orange and lemon notes....like a 100 other quality NEIPAs this is easy drinking and pretty darn delicious.....go get some...

L - bright orange, almost opaque, nice two finger head but it's made of large bubbles that most disappear, lacing the glass
S - melon, orange, pineapple, tomato (?), pancake batter
T - orange, pretty sweet, a little maltier than the average NEIPA (more like Grimm than OH), some dank and tropical notes, finishes dry but with very little bitterness
F - nice medium carbonation and viscosity
O - great
