Collaboration with Three Chiefs Brewing Co.
Players is an American Imperial Stout brewed with Madagascar vanilla beans, Fiji cacao nibs, toasted coconut, and Mostra Coffee ghost bear espresso. No lactose was harmed in this beers creation. It pours jet black with a beautiful deep tan head. The dynamics of the relative adjunct strength shift as the beer warms and time lengthens. The creamy flavor is a medley of some of our favorite things: coffee at first and then a transformation to chocolate brownie batter sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes followed by notes of vanilla-marshmallow to balance it out. As it’s one of our longest boils yet, the viscosity and body is thick. We recommend drinking this at or near room temperature to experience all the adjuncts have to offer. We recommend NOT cellaring this beer to enjoy its fresh coffee and coconut character.

Bottle. Tan head. Black color. Lace.
Lots of coconut. Fudge and brownie batter. Chocolate cake. Pastry stout. Cocoa nibs and vanilla. One of the pastriest Stout’s I’ve had but in a good way. Thick and full bodied.

Poured in draft at the brewery. IMO, this is the best beer from Equilibrium. Pours a deep chocolate color. The flavor and feel are so smooth and not sweet. Hard to believe this is 11 percent ABV.

500ml bottle. Snifter glass. Dark oily black body, one finger offwhite head, short retention and no lacing. If you look carefully, you can see little floating particles, presumably coconut. Smell is samoas- coconut and chocolate, with a big dose of white sugar. Mild peppery coffee throughout the backend. Smells like coffee cake with toasted coconut flakes sprinkled all over it. Has a nice pastry quotient. Flavour brings the nose into a different dimension- more vanilla sweetness pervades the beer, giving it a marshmallowy flavour on top of the coconut and chocolate. This puts the coffee into the background, where it provides a bit of mild roast and bitterness to help balance the adjuncts somewhat. Make no mistake though, this is major vanilla and coconut with a fair dose of chocolate. Thick and full bodied, creamy, good body, smooth and marshmallowy on the backend. Very nice pastry stout, although that is what that is and nothing more. I certainly recommend letting this bad boy warm up closer to room temperature as that brings the vanilla out even more.
