Something that lies away from its natural central tendency is called a Deviation.

We took Straight out of the Laboratory's massive Citra hop bill and applied our new Energy Dry Hop process from Energy Equals to bring you even more juiciness and drinkability than already found in our line of TIPAs; i.e. a TIPA deviation.

Deviation pours a very bright tangerine color and has an absolutely explosive tropical nose with the brightness exuding from the can as soon as it’s cracked open. We find the flavors to be remarkable and some of our deepest yet. Fresh squeezed OJ, mango, lychee, and pineapple lead the way with light hints of lime and grass. The finish is big while being light in body, balanced, and extremely smooth for its ABV. The escalating#EQjuice buildup really shines here.

There is plenty of talk at the brewery on whether or not this dethrones SOTL, we'll let you be the judge.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA

Served in a tulip

Impressive appearance. The beer poured a glowing yellow-orange hue and was topped by a fluffy, inch-tall, off-white crown that slowly fell to a dollop of froth atop the liquid. A wall of streaky, spotty lacing coated the glass and stuck for quite a while.

The aroma was terrific but pretty straightforward. Really hoppy and bright. Peach and apricot notes came through big time. Peach nectar perhaps. Loads of juicy orange character as well. Nice fruity sweetness. Hint of dankness too.

The flavor profile was also solid but not quite as juicy or sweet as the nose. Citrus notes dominated. Orange and tangerine specifically. Touch of peach and mango in the center. Grapefruit appeared on the back end. Moderately pithy, bitter, grapefruit rind-like notes trailed into the finish.

Excellent mouthfeel. Fluffy and medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a finer beaded, moderate effervescence that turned frothy and slick on the palate.

Deviation is an impressive IPA with an amazingly fruity aroma and a very solid, citrus-forward flavor profile. While this is an enjoyable beer that I would gladly drink, it probably does not belong in the upper pantheon of Equilibrium IPAs.

A: The beer is very hazy brownish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a thin film of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of gooseberries, lime and lychee are present in the nose.
T: The taste has strong flavors of lime and lychee along with hints of gooseberries. Little to no bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and rather juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The murky and brownish appearance of this beer isn't that appealing, but this is a massive juicy hop bomb that is incredibly drinkable for being 10.5% abv as no alcohol is present in the taste.

Off white head. Can. Not as many floaties in this one, but still looks gross.

Typical equilibrium maltiness. Sweet oranges, sugary. Everything seems so fake with their ipas. It’s more of a sweet, malty mess with some citrus fruits. Not worth $8-$9 a can.

On Tap at Ansari’s Pours a soft orange color with a 1 finger white head, Smell is topical with papaya guava, oranges and melon. Taste follows nose with a dose of sweet malts. ABV well hidden and will hit you. It’s tasty and very easy to crush.

Pours a hazy, milky medium orange with a finger of creamy white head. Aroma has mango, tangerine, lime, melon, and grass. Taste is quite melony upfront with tangerine, mango, and lime notes. There is some sweetness but it’s pretty restrained. This is creamy with a medium -full body and moderate carbonation. Overall this is another great Triple IPA from Equilibrium; in my book EQ are the masters of the TIPA. I don’t think I enjoy it *quite* as much as Straight out of the Laboratory but this is real good.
