Breakfast Time is Relative is barrel aged Special Relativity 2 conditioned with coffee, maple syrup, and lactose. Embracing special relativity’s theme of time, we chose a nice rest in Hill Rock Double Cask Rye barrels from our friends Hillrock Estate Distillery. Hill Rock Distillery produces hand-crafted spirits made with their own grain, floor malted, craft distilled in copper pot still, and aged in fine oak. Special Relativity 2 was allowed to equilibrate for over 8 months in the barrel with charred oak, and smoke flavors to achieve a harmonious and synergistic balance. This beer was than further conditioned on Mostra Coffee Ghost Bear Espresso Blend, Catskill Mountain Sugarhouse maple syrup, and lactose.

First off, this beer was bottled in May 2020 and was listed on the bottle as 10% ABV, not 12%, as it's described here. I drank it mid-June 2020. The label recommend drinking it near room temperature, and I would second that - it gained a lot of richness as it warmed. The smell and taste had a bit too much alcohol in them for my taste, but the flavor was very deep, with a unique maple flavor and underlying coffee tone. The look of the beer was good but a touch oily and very little head. The feel was very smooth but a bit syrupy - but the flavor didn't end up in cough syrup territory. Overall, a pricey beer but worth trying if you like a sweeter, rich stout.
