Straight Outta Middletown South Street Edition is similar to its kin, SOM, but uses some updated hardware in our new home here on South Street to elevate the notes and flavor profile. Adding it our Project Elevate Series, the label features a drone’s eye view of the beautiful city of Middletown and our Brewery right before sunrise in late July of this year.
This beer stays true to its Henry Street roots and investigates the interplay between our ale strain and a big Mosaic and Citra forward hop bill woven multiple times during our updated processes.
SOM (SSE) pours a bright tangerine color, releasing notes of grovestand orange, pineapple, and earthy grass. The taste is highly resinous, dank and luscious citrus, passionfruit, lime, and a touch of fun dip stick crossed with smarties that leads to a chewy mouth feel and a firm and pointed bitterness along with our signiture #EQjuice profile. We are happy to welcome SOM to South Street!

A - Pours a hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nice amount of soapy lacing.
S - Aroma is cantaloupe, peach, tangerine and grassy hops.
T - The tatse is cantaloupe, orange, pineapple, peach and a nice bitter hop bite in the finish.
M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a soft crisp finish.
O - Really like this one. Bright tropical fruits and super easy drinking for a TRIPA.

Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice cloudy yellow/orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice thick/creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerines, pineapple, grapefruit, apricots, nectarines, peach, guava, mango, lime), very nice diesel like. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, pineapple, apricots, nectarines, peach, guava, mango, lime), a nice little sweetness, very nice diesel like. Full Body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty beer. MilkShake! Orange Julius! Addictive!

Has a bit of a boozy edge to it, but I suppose that's to be expected. Biting citric acidity hits heavy on the finish.
Hop profile isn't standout, but leans citrusy with a pedestrian tropical fruit component in there too. Guava, melon, cantaloupe.
Not very drinkable...even a 12 fl oz can of this would be a bit of a tall order. I'll work my way through it, but it fatigues the palate only a couple ounces in. Far from Equilibrium's best work.

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a very hazy opaque deep gold with a negligible off-white head. Initial impression is hugely juicy grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and a nice dankness, tempered by a slight caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel is decidedly chewy and fairly soft. Finish is more juiciness, fading to a slight bitterness. Overall, an excellent DIPA. Kudos to Equilibrium for this one!
