We have been enjoying the distinctive velvet nougat-like flavor and mouthfeel honey has imparted in some of our recent stouts. For our latest creation, we boiled up a stout with a touch more chocolate malts for a dark cocoa truffle base before adding hazelnuts, honey, and Madagascar vanilla.

Bottle shared by Paul today, thanks for the hookup!
Pours a thick dark motor oil black color initially without a head but a decent tan one somehow forms through the thick cauldron of tar. Hazelnut and vanilla dominate the nose for me. Roasty chocolate flavor with plenty of vanilla, nutella, brownie batter flavor. Earthy and roasty bitterness are trying to counter the sweetness but this is a diabetes coma waiting to happen. Full thick sweet body. I thought the flavors and aroma were wonderful, but it was sweet enough that I'm glad I had help with the 500ml bottle.

From a 500 ml. bottle with noticeable date. Sampled Dec 22, 2022.
The color is jet black with a very dark brown medium head. Lacing.
An array of rich, sweet aromas including roasted malts, vanilla, honey, hazelnut, and Graham crackers. Some booze. It really smells vibrant in its sweetness.
Smooth medium mouthfeel.
The taste is very sweet with all of the same characters such as honey, vanilla, hazelnut, and licorice. The booze is not as noted in the taste.

Very little head production, even from a relatively strong pour. It slowly builds to a peak of perhaps 1/4 finger at most. Body looks thick and viscous.
Caramel, cola, prune on the nose, darkly rich. Additional notes of chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. It's not a particularly potent aroma.
If this beer looks thick, it's because it is. Super thick, creamy, chewy; pick your favorite adjective. It's beyond full bodied. Not a ton of alcohol on the palate given the ABV.
Tasting notes of red grape, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, honey, pecan, plum; very little hint of the hazelnut. It's there, but hazelnut often dominates, and it's quite subtle here (pleasantly so).
This is truly a boozy chocolate smoothie. Really impressive.
