I want to start this by saying this is one of the darkest beers I have ever consumed. It’s like that shade of black paint that doesn’t reflect light. I held my phone light up to it and no light shown through to the other side… pitch black. Nose is bready with heavily toasted malts. A touch of caramel; maybe toffee. Notes of coffee also coming through. Taste is right there with the nose. A mildly sweet and dry finish with mild to moderate bitterness. One may draw a light comparison to a dry citrus rind. Overall I like it! For 4.2% abv you get a lot of bang for the buck in the flavor department.

Dark brown with long lasting beige foam in the tumbler. Smells faintly of cardboard. This is so sweet I think of Malta, that Puerto Rican malt drink. The taste is caramel with cinnamon, or at least a box of Red Hots in the keg. Some dark fruit and then the unfortunate finish of very old oranges that also sticks in your nose. This is really ghastly. From the 16 oz can purchased on the West Coast. Not dated, conveniently for the retailer.

Poured into a wide mouth grip shaped goblet: color is near black, head is light tan and presents one finger thick, head lingers with a thin top and spotty lacing.

Smell is roast, toast, light coffee, touch of caramel, earth and grassed hops.

Taste is more roast, light coffee, toast, light caramel, light hopping with earthy notes.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.

Overall an excellent lighter porter - roast/coffee/caramel notes that are impressive for this strength of porter.

16 oz. Can

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice dark brown/black color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which also leaves a pretty nice small island, and some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, malty, hoppy, with a pretty nice chocolate/toffee, roasty/nutty, vanilla, licorice. The taste is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice chocolate/toffee, roasty/nuttyness, vanilla, licorice. Medium Body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty nice beer.

Pours an effervescent chestnut color with one finger of mocha colored head. Minimal head retention or lacing

S: Roasty, a little smokey

T: Follows the nose, dry, Baker's Chocolate, a little hint of gooseberry & dark cherry as well up front. A touch of coffee goes along with the roastyness/dryness as this beer warms up. Finishes with a touch of dark chocolate, drynessroastyness & a hint of smokeyness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation

Very easy to drink take on the style, deliver lots of flavor

Poured very dark, stout black if that makes sense. The brown head appears and reaches 3 cm before fading away to a ring.
Aroma lost on me, stupid Covid.
The taste was toast and coffee and dark chocolate, and the coffee was smooth. This had no bitterness whatsoever. I loved it. For the ABV, it is just short of amazing.
The feel is just enough body to register but no more. It somehow fits the flavors very well.
This is an excellent porter and it’s sessionable. I’m impressed.
