Had this on draft at the brewery in Washington after seeing it on the menu. A Smoked wheat beer. Pale gold in color with a moderate head. The smell is smoky, think smokehouse but not as intense as a Rauchbier. The taste was similar to Rauchbier as well although not as heavy on the smoke with a lighter feel from the wheat grain. A good beer to try from a historical perspective but probably not one I'd repeat.

This pours a thin golden white with billowy foam. Lots and lots of smoke hits the nose and confronts the palate at first sip. It’s lightly delicate behind the bacon and burnt ends, with a subtle malt backing. Well done and delicious.

12oz can from John's. Clear, pale golden pour, paper thin layer of foam. Light smoky aroma, ash, campfire. Taste is bready, campfire. Dry finish with a latent bitterness.

Pint at Chuck's Hop Shop Seward Park.

Pours clear light yellow, small dense head, lots of fine, fast carbonation. Smell is smoky, nutty, light lemon and grass. Honey/floral sweetness. Taste is crisp and grassy with a strong, slow, smokey nose. Grain, husk, hay, light lemon rind. Mouthfeel is very light, almost thin, quite dry. Nice, easy, tasty grodziskie.

On tap at the source.

Crystal clear straw yellow with a dense white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is a great blend of delicate smoke, light malt and not much more. The palate opens light, crisp, snappy, mildly acidic from the carbonation. Delicate smoke, no hop character. Slightly watery but for the ABV, it is to be expected. Very tasty and refreshing.

Served in half-litre Willi Becher. Poured a pale yellow color with an inch+ of white head that had moderate retention and lacing.

The aroma was smoke forward, but not overpoweringly so, with just a bit of neutral grain in the background.

Pretty much the same on the tongue, just more; a bit more smoke and bit more grain. No hop aspect I could pick out.

The body was very light, soft, and had a dry finish.

Drinkability will, of course, depend on how well you like smoke in your beer.. i like smoke, so I could drink several of these.

Overall, a very nice brew. Personally, I coulda used a bit more smoke, but YMMV. Worth trying if you see it.
