Poured from 375mL corked & caged bottle into a tulip. Bottled 08/2017.

Appearance: rich golden hue with a bit of a haze and a massive effervescence. The head is a thin layer of white foam, which is slight compared to the effervescence on offer; still, it looks damn good overall.

Smell: classic farmhouse aroma with a bit of Brett on the nose. I'm not getting much of a sour note despite the Brett and Lactobacillus, but it's still a wonderful funk.

Taste: funky, earthy, malty, just a little bit sweet, just a little bit sour, and a whole lot delightful. This is a complex beer with a lot of varied and interesting stuff going on; it's very autumnal in nature with earthy flavors and a rich funk. I really like it.

Mouthfeel: light body with a thin feel but a great big carbonation. It's got a big creaminess, if an evanescent one. The light mouthfeel works because the beer is so otherwise refreshing. I like it.

Overall: this beer drinks like a soda pop (albeit an earthy mushroom sour soda pop), absolutely nowhere near its 9% heft. It's a dangerous treat and I dig it.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a slightly hazy orange/golden amber with a fizzy two finger head that dissipates to a fine half finger head with good lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, tart citrus, wild yeast and hints of light stone fruit. Flavor is grainy malt, sour apple and lemon, earthy grain, a little brett; lactic. Medium bodied with medium creaminess and nice mouth feel. There is some saison character here, the malt has a saison feel, but the overall flavor is sour. I've come to the conclusion that lactobacillus is not a flavor that invites me to long sipping, and although it is not as dominant here as a classic sour ale, it is enough to take the edge off the saison grain and fruit flavors for me. Saisons are a gamble for me and this one is too tart. Appears and tastes well made and the ancestry of this brewery is promising.
