Labatt Blue LightLabatt Blue Light
Notes: Labatt Blue Light was introduced in 1983 as a lower-alcohol, lower-calorie version of Canada’s most popular brand. Blue Light uses specially selected North American aromatic hops and the same strain of lager yeast as the one used to produce Labatt Blue. The result is a crisp, clean and delicately balanced beer, with a slight sweetness and citrus-like hop character.

The lightest, crispest, and most inoffensive cheap beer option.

Blue light is easily one of the most prestigious beverages around. Have you ever just wanted to slam 24pack. Well this is the beer to do it with. After drinking 10-12 of these only thing you can think is dang that went down to easy. If you luck the magical labatt will bless you with out a hangover. Best beert

A notch above southern mainstream corn style lights, in taste, imo. Def go to when in the north!

12oz can into a tall lager glass.
L: Pours pale light caramel w a thin eggshell white head, decent large carbo bubbles, light random splotchy lacing.
S: Grains, lightly sweet malts, corn, lightly metallic, a light trace of pastry dough.
T: Sweet grains, corn a hint of malting, a suggestion of grassy hops, lightly pale, no aftertaste.
F: Gently fizzy lighter bodied feel w a very fast finish that is rather drying.
O: Fast, dry, easy drinking and rather light on taste and that's good as it's quite dry on the tongue which aids in faster drinking. I enjoy the dryness of it and think it's good in its style.

This was another one bottle purchase. Good thing that I didn't get more. Terrible beer. I really had a hard time drinking this one as the taste reminded me of diluted beer, at least what I thought.

Um…horrible. Smell is faint beery. Taste, I’m thinking corn. I’m pretty sure this is a CORN beer. Not faint corn like some light beers, but serious corn. At least this really thin brew has some carbonation to it, a bright point. To think when I was growing up in the 80’s, this was a “Canadian Import” beer with a premium price. Ugh.

Yeah so Blue Light is like an old reliable friend. You really always know what you’re getting. A most crushable beer that is light, but doesn’t taste too watery or totally like chemicals. We have used Blue Light on many occasions, from horse races, graduation parties, beech excursions, that time at the Harp and post hockey game festivities. The beer we smoked in college has come with us on many a weekend since. Simply put, Blue Light far and away the best mass produced light beer you can buy.

Appearance: Pours completely clear, pale golden color with a nice white and foamy head. SRM of 7. (3.75)

Aroma: Nice pale malt aromas with a slight salty, bread and honey aroma. A hint of that pilsner malt comes through.

Flavor: Nice pale malts again with a slight bready sweetness from the pilsner malt. Really nicely showcases the malts here. Leans slightly sweet for the style.

Feel: Leans slightly heavier bodied. A small amount of residual sweetness on the tongue.

Compared to Trader Joe's Light Beer 6/13/20: Pours a slightly lighter color. Stronger and sweeter aromas. More bready and less dry and crackery. Overall sweeter with less carbonation. Winner: Labatt Blue

Overall: A nice and easy drinking light lager. Slightly heavier bodied for the style, but not really too heavily bodied but rather a nice malt sweetness. Nice pilsner malt flavors give it a pilsner flavor of slight bread sweetness. Really impressed by this light beer (Rating relative within style. Final Rating: 4.00)

355mL bottle, I am from Canada but I haven't had this in about 15 years. A thin white head caps a crystal clear pale golden beer. Mild aroma of sweet grain and grassy/spicy hops. Flavors are well balanced and very mild again with notes of biscuit, cereal grain, corn perhaps, bitterness is very modest while being earthy and a bit spicyb maybe grassy too. Light body, moderate carbonation, very easy drinking with a crisp finish. Again, a long time since I had this one. I will get it again if I see it, but it is not very common to see around here.

I live in California so this beer is pretty hard to find. Almost near impossible really. Anyways after having a few 6 packs, it's right in the sweet spot. It's not overly bitter or sour tasting at the end like Bud or Miller. Malt comes through clean, hops shine through lightly, and the beer finishes dry. It's a really enjoyable beer and a good overall light beer. I dont get the hate. You're reviewing a light beer, not an aged stout or an IPA. You're reviewing a light F'ing beer!

(24 oz can, code A29927, 'Let's Go Flyers' branding; purchased cold... poured into 28 oz mug)

L: polished-clear, gold liquid; tall build of explosive, crumbly white foam... keeps a collar but doesn't lace

S: mildly spicy apple peel overtone, subtle soapy-perfumy note; bit of a musty dough in the background... fair potency overall

T: good bit more slightly-sweetish cereal grain flavor than the smell lead on; the finish drops away, malt goes diluted, while that vaguely apple-y spicy (clove) phenol lingers... in subsequent sips, the spice fades and a dry, delicate, doughy malt rises and settles in... lovely dryness all the way through, just a bit too skewed toward the faint musty spice

F: light-bodied, softly foamy texture; silky wave rolling through... rather heavenly caress

O: comparing this to my review of regular Labatt Blue, I seem to prefer this lighter expression, assuming it's a similar recipe just scaled back... I've tried a relative crap-ton of light lagers lately, and this is one of the better ones (1465)
