16 oz. can. Murky orange. Big white head. Smells of tropical fruit, some citrus zest, and melony yeast notes. Tastes of sweet tropical fruit hops, sweet pale malt, pina colada, with a light citrus zip in the back end. Yeast flavor isn't apparent when it's cold, but comes back fiercely as it warms. Same flavor I often get from Civil Society IPAs. Creamy body. Medium heavy. Doesn't taste like a ton of booze, though. Something's off, but it doesn't ruin the beer until the end.

 

 

 

Look ...the way i want a turbid IPA to look . Light yellow with almost no light penetration.
Smell...Mango , pineapple, mango, citrus hop, and juice. Very very nice.
Taste...Really expressive sweetness giving way quickly to a solid bitterness. Damn Nice transition to yumminess.
another great IPA from these guys. When i want something a better than the store I come here!!!
Feel... A smooth creamy feel that these guys have nicely covered. Medium carbonation to a prickly hop finish
Overall...First time with this on and i will def continue to get. Another way above average IPA double

L - pours a thick, hazy, murky brownish yellow. I'm guessing there are hops in here. Fluffy, sticky-looking head that hangs around. Swirling the glass yields mesmerizing results.

S - green melon and mango. Honey sweetness and graham cracker doughiness. Blood orange. Yeasty and smells oozing with hops.

T - pineapple cream and marshmallow fluff. Has a sugary, sickly sweetness up front that quickly takes a turn into grassy bitterness and oily hop residue. Underripe stonefruit, featuring peach, nectarine, and apricot. Rindy grapefruit and honeydew melon. FInishes tangy and bitter with maybe some mild coconut.

F - like a dream. Low carb, buttery smooth, and a filling, full-bodied creaminess. You can FEEL the hops. Best part about this beer.

O - hearing reports that this batch was a touch on the green side, and I can't say I disagree. A bit bitter and herbal. Wants to explode with candied orange syrup flavor and dank, tropical fruit, but the overwhelming hop prevalence simply saturates any attempt at uncontrollable juiciness. Surprisingly drinkable and might actually work for the better if you're looking for something to hop your socks off.

Pint can - canned on 1/15/2020 - poured into a medium oblong wine stem at 48F.

Pours a milky, turbid, pale banana cream yellow, topped with a finger of white head that quickly recedes to a tall foamy collar. No visible effervescence. Looks like a banana milkshake.

Nose: Aromas of intensely overripe tropical fruit waft out of the glass with such intensity, there's an almost savoury note underneath that reminds me of Chinese food. Brocolli in a kung pao sauce. The primary aroma is pineapple, guava, lychee, mango, and overripe peach with a good bit of dankness, some grassy green notes, and some tangerine.

Palate: The beer greets the palate with initial sturdy pale malt sweetness that surely has a large proportion of oats. Quite sweet, but in an oaty neutral way, not honey or caramel. The flavour opens up with some sweet, sharp, tangy pineapple, followed by papaya, overripe mango, and some ripe summer peach, leaning almost towards apricot. There's a moderate level of hop acidity which really puts emphasis on the pineapple flavour. It's definitely sharp and a bit acidic, and I wouldn't hesitate to call it "hop burn" but it suits the beet very well, and helps cut through the base sweetness. The finish is brings a bit of earthy (Simcoe?) dankness that develops a touch of pithy bitterness, before increasing in earthiness before ultimately concluding clean, dry, and slightly resinous.

Mouthfeel/Body: The beer is medium-full bodied with a soft fluffiness about it. A bit creamy, but manages to stay quite crisp and drinkable despite its weight and initial sweetness. Effervescence is fairly lively for the ABV, and the bubbles are very fine and spritzy.

Overall: It's hard to brew a big, hoppy, New England double IPA and have it stand out in a crowd. There are a few out that stand above the rest, but most others are just good, very good, okay, or not good. This is certainly very good, perhaps even better than very good. It's very balanced and drinkable for the size, it's a bit sweet, very fruity, sharp and bright, a little dank, resinous, pithy, and finishes clean. It ticks many boxes, and while it msu not win any awards, it's a perfectly great double IPA.

The taste is pineapple, peach and papaya. A bit of citrus bite. Finishes with more pineapple and peach. Heavy body with a creamy mouthfeel. Moderate alcohol presence.
