16oz can served in a little Cantillon glass. Don't see a date.
Pours clear, slightly pinkish golden with a smallish head. Smell is very tart, some cranberry if I choose to label it as such, some oak, maybe some lemon and/or lemon pith.
Taste is tart, something slightly umami about it, maybe herbal is a better word (in the sense of herbs that might typically be used on beef, like rosemary and thyme).
Feel is medium. Overall, nice beer.

Crystal clear, apple juice colored beer. Small amount of very short-lived fizzy white head. Aroma certainly hints that this beer will be plenty tart. The tart / funk is the dominant aroma, with the blood orange lurking beneath it. Taste is where this beer shines (which is of course, a pretty important category to nail). Whether it's the blood orange, or the character picked up from the foeder, or maybe just the underlying base beer, it's damn tasty. For those just getting into this style, this may not be the best option, as it's plenty tart, but for those who love the style (looks in mirror), it has just enough sour to get your attention, but without getting out of balance. Carbonation is on the lower end. Overall, very tasty.

24 ratings and I'm the first review of a style I keep trying to like, but don't.
But Incipient at least begins the New Year for me and I almost like it... being a gentle tart. (Incipient is, that is... I'm an old fart -- and saison fan -- who thinks the Wilds are invading.)
Incipient opens with better than average Looks in a murky and flat style. Smells offer mostly muted berries and lemony tart. Tastes follow honestly... with the tart never trying to push the other ingredients to the curb. Incipient cleanses the palate for another bite from my bowl of pasta and red sauce. Incipient would be refreshing if I had it in the summer.
My first from Speciation, they now get a quickie brewer review. They got heart. A mom 'n pop shop using mostly Michigan ingredients (yeasts and bacteria) and learning to regulate the fermentation process. Four years old in one of the Great Lakes better metros for beer, they seem to be doing well. And I wish them well. (But sorry about the rating... you did as well as you could to change this old man's buds.)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
