Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (air) glass
Price: $6.19
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 8, 2022
Consumed: March 4, 2022
Misc.: Canned on Dec. 6, 2021
Went to Windmill Farms for some bread and a 6-pack of Enegren’s The Lightest One, and came back with nine other singles. Untappd description was “Imperial Stout w/ Coffee & Vanilla Beans Conditioned on Steady State “El Mezcal” Coffee & Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans.”
Poured a pitch-black color with three fingers of rocky-to-frothy tan head. Could see some bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass toward the top. Outstanding spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Mocha, vanilla beans, caramel, toffee, chocolate milk, vanilla frosting, Honey Buns and hints of cinnamon. Nowhere as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose but not quite. In order got Mocha, vanilla beans, caramel, toffee, bitter roasty malts, chocolate milk, vanilla frosting, Honey Buns, cinnamon and hints of black pepper. Pretty smooth 10.3 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)
Full body. Sticky-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Slightly bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Was back and forth on a few categories and actually still not sure I got it right. But this was at least outstanding. Would have again for sure. (Overall - 4.25)
